Is giving back a priority for you and your family? Are you looking to start a meaningful family tradition? Why not join us for our annual Family Volunteering Day! Get the whole family involved – children, teenagers, even grandparents! This year we’ll be planting and guarding native plants at the Styx Loop Reserve, as part of the ongoing restoration of the Pūharakekenui environment. This will contribute towards the return of native fish and bird populations to the area, and give locals access to native forest and river reserves in the Northern Christchurch area.

Plants, mallets and a selection of spades are provided but please bring your own:
• Gardening gloves
• Spade, if you have one
• Gumboots or sturdy old shoes – you will get dirty!
• Water bottle and snack

Come and witness the real difference that volunteering can make. Help your younger family members develop genuine empathy for others, and give your kids a deeper appreciation for what they have. Spend quality family time together doing something fun and worthwhile. We know that the biggest barrier to volunteering is lack of time – Kiwis aged between 35 and 44 are the least likely to volunteer due to that time pressure. That’s why involving the whole family and combining family time with a volunteering project is a win-win situation. Not only does your community benefit from your volunteering, but so do you!
