Six scholarships will be offered to students studying agriculture and horticulture at Massey and Lincoln universities to help boost the number of advisers providing on-the-ground support to farmers and growers. These scholarships will be funded by the Ministry for Primary Industries. Six scholarships, worth $5,000 each, are on offer for the 2024 academic year to students enrolled in relevant 3 or 4-year degree courses (see information about the relevant degrees in the application information). “We are seeking applications from students genuinely interested in joining the agricultural and horticultural advisory sectors. The scholarship programme will help build on our strong reputation for producing skilled graduates who are well-equipped to contribute to the success of New Zealand’s food and fibre sector, says Lincoln University’s deputy vice-chancellor student life Damian Lodge.
Successful applicants will also receive mentoring and development opportunities from MPI. Applications for the MPI On Farm Support science scholarships are open on 11 October 2023 and close on 22 November 2023.
