Learn about becoming an Anaesthetic Technician

Do you want a fulfilling and exciting professional career in healthcare?
Watch the AUT Perioperative Practice webinar

AUT Perioperative Practice

Anaesthetic Technicians work closely with patients, preparing them for surgery, being part of the anaesthetic team during surgery and caring for them post-surgery.

You may have heard recent news reports about surgeries in Christchurch being cancelled due to the current shortage of anesthetic technicians.  This is a career pathway where job prospects are excellent and the qualification is recognised internationally.
This recording of the recent AUT Perioperative Practice webinar introduces the role of the Anaesthetic Technician and the AUT Bachelor of Health Sciences degree in Perioperative Practice.
The webinar includes:
  • the Head of the AUT Perioperative Practice programme explaining the degree and how it can be studied in Auckland and via the blended learning method.
  • clips of current ATs about their job (both in NZ and the UK),
  • a video clip of current students during their training,
  • an industry representative discussing career pathways, salary scales and the current shortage in the workforce.

AUT is also looking to set up a South Island campus in Christchurch that will teach Perioperative Practice, Paramedicine and Podiatry.  Watch out for this over the coming year/s.
